Sessions typically take about 55 minutes. Length of treatment varies from about 12 sessions and up. During the first session or two we will get to know each other, establish your needs, then decide upon a therapy plan. Once those prerequisites are complete, the work can begin. Length and success of your therapy experience will be primarily dependent upon your motivation and determination.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions we can experience and may even trigger eating concerns. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover the motivation, perspective, and joy you once had. Matt and Anna both offer help with depression and anxiety. Anna possesses a special passion for those struggling with eating problems.
Usually short term, family therapy can help you improve troubled relationships with your spouse, children or other family members. Family therapy can be useful in any family situation that causes stress, grief, anger or conflict. It can help you and your family members understand one another better, communicate more effectively, and learn coping skills to bring you closer together.
Many individuals experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that often linger after experiencing trauma whether it's an accident, the loss of a loved one, assault, or combat experiences. Either of our therapists can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the healing process. Both have extensive experience with trauma work and Matt is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
Access to counseling services can be challenging in many areas of Alaska. Although we prefer in-person sessions whenever possible, we have fully encrypted videoconferencing capabilities allowing confidential sessions anywhere a reliable broadband internet connection is available. Our secure patient portal also allows confidential communication not available from free email accounts or local internet providers' webmail.
